It’s that time of the year … time for the release of the next issue of the quarterly LOAM Zine. The LOAM Zine is our free gift to you. It’s a fun digital magazine about all things coffee, stories, and stoke. What is in the Winter 2024 issue?
I vividly remember where I was sitting when we launched that Fall 2023 issue. I was in a coffee shop in Cedar City, Utah, attending the International Mountain Bike Association (IMBA) Trail Lab on behalf of Trail Builder Magazine. One of IMBA’s mottos is “more trails close to home.” It’s that topic that we write about in our latest zine. The title? “More Trails Close to Home.” What else?
As many of you know, Nacho was stolen and got thrashed … a messed up steering column, damaged center console, a broken window, a dented up door, and more. Even before the police found it, many of you reached out about Nacho and shared how you wanted to contribute to seeing the van restored to be fully operational (and serving coffee). Some started giving money, and others pledged without even asking.
2023 was a momentous year for me personally and for Loam Coffee. When I sold Loam back in 2020, I was excited and relieved. Those feelings slowly turned to mourning and loss. One of the fun challenges is to offer a wide variety of coffee to accommodate your tastes and interests. Coffee is one of those subjects where there are strong opinions about what is “good.” Some prefer dark roast, while others only drink light roast. Others like bright, fruity, and acidic coffees, while others prefer nutty, chocolatey, milder ones. Luckily, we’ve got you covered (except we only do light roasts).
I’m excited to bring our Brazil Salmo Natural to you.
In the midst of a frustrating past week dealing with a stolen and now recovered van, there has been a huge bright spot … YOU! Sure, the van thing was annoying, but it’s not the end of the world. The best part of this whole experience is seeing how so many of you care. Many of you reached out to me because you even wanted to give to help fix up Nacho the Van. That was genuinely humbling. Thank you. I am grateful for you.
Now, who wants to win a bag of coffee?
